Giving back to the community is so important to us as, between us, we have overcome so much. Losing a parent to suicide, sexual assault and the stigma of being a young divorcee, are just the tip of the iceberg of issues that we have faced and overcome in our lives so far. As women of faith, we thank God for all that He has brought us through and given to us.
We also recognise the role of people in our journeys who gave to us freely, the help that we needed along the way and regard this as nothing short of a blessing. We are so grateful for all those who have impacted our lives and whose help has supported our development as growing young women. From women’s shelters to free community youth groups, we have all benefited from the love of those who were willing to extend their thoughts beyond their own daily struggles, to our lives. This is one of the reasons why the Purple Touch have a strong drive to help others in any way that we can.
Over the past ten years, the “Purples” have engaged in a variety of initiatives to give to those in need. We have provided “Blessing Bags” for the ladies of a particular women’s shelter, visited the elderly, volunteered to help the homeless, and provided Christmas food hampers to families in need. We have lost pounds (in weight!) to raise money for charity and repeatedly set aside time to visit children in the Great Ormond Street Hospital. Every year, we make a point to give back somehow at this time of year, when many who are in need are most aware of this.
This year 2020, we have contacted some schools who know that they are sending some of their pupils home for the Christmas holidays having very little provision of the basics due to the hardships of this year. We want those families to not worry about how they are going to eat or have a little joy over the holidays. Consequently, we would like to ask all those who can, to help us help them. To facilitate this, we have created an Amazon wishlist for people to donate what they can for these Christmas hampers. Nothing is too little and all donations are welcome. We would like to thank everyone who has joined us in our passion to help others. Giving is really its own reward.
As always, “Staaaaay purple…!” 💜💜💜
